High-Precision Turning Automotive CNC Machining Parts
How does CNC turning work?
The CNC turning process involves moving the single-point cutting tool parallel to the axis of rotation while the lathe is fixing and turning the raw material, so that the material is shaped. The precise measurement values are input into the machine through CAD software.
Once the computer has read the instructions, it will control the lathe to ensure that the parts are manufactured to the exact specifications required. This is different from traditional machining because it is the workstation rather than the cutting tool that is rotating.
Because of the way they operate, CNC turning is often used to make more cylindrical or rectangular parts. Because this technology can quickly produce multiple identical components from one piece of raw material, it was also chosen before CNC milling and 3D printing.

Lathe type
Several types of lathes are used in CNC turning. Each of them is suitable for different projects.
Among the many available lathes, 4 are commonplace in precision engineering workshops. This is a brief description of what they are and what they do:
Horizontal CNC lathe: one of the most commonly used machine tools in CNC. Grasp the workpiece from the side.
Vertical CNC lathe: Grab the workpiece from the bottom and then rotate it like the top.
Horizontal turning center: a closed CNC lathe that can integrate milling and drilling functions. They can also include conveyor belts and coolant injection, etc.
Vertical turning center: a combination of horizontal turning center and CNC rolling mill
Advantages of CNC turning
There are many reasons why manufacturers prefer to use computer-aided technology compared to manual turning. Not only is it more cost-effective, but it can also increase production speed and efficiency, which means you can produce more components in a shorter time.
Due to the increased level of accuracy provided by CNC turning, manufacturers can also reduce waste because they can use their own raw materials to make more things.
